Happy Birthday to cosmonaut Valentina Tereshkova, born on this day in 1927. On June 16, 1963, she became the first woman in space when she soared to the heavens on the Vostok 6 mission and orbited the Earth 48 times. Fun fact: In order to join the Cosmonaut Corps, Tereshkova was inducted into the Soviet Air Force, but since the distinction was only honorary, she was the first civilian to fly in space. Two records, one trip.
As early as 1963!

And when the Urca’s ours, what’s to stop me from killing you anyway? Well, that’s a few weeks from now, isn’t it? We might be friends by then.

tatum played it like a love story; he did!; i watched an interview once and he was all blushy like; ye they in love; (via queermccoy)
This entire movie was a ridiculous love-song. Allow me to take this opportunity to link to my favorite Marcus/Esca novels and novellas:
- Anywhere on This Road
- Children of the Sun
- Chosen Man
- Descry
- Eagle Nine
- Everything is a Stall
- Fighter
- From the Depths of His Heart
- Hard is the Fortune
- Never Return to the Scene of the Crime
- Real Bodyguards Don’t Get Power Ballads
- Time Yet For a Hundred Indecisions
- Until All the Songs Are Sung
- Vae Victis
These were taken from my multi-fandom novel-length recs. Enjoy! 🙂
Loved the book as a young woman who did not yet know the word “homoerotic”, but knew what made her quake in her shoes. Liked the film although Tatum looks too much like an American footballer (Esca was perfect).
Captain Flirt

internet friends are tricky.
for me, internet friends come in phases. for each fandom you enter, each forum you explore, each social media platform you join – there’s always new people you meet. sometimes i lose those friends with the end of those phases, each era coming and going and taking everything and everyone i love with it, and it breaks my heart. but that doesn’t mean they matter any less. for some time, they were important to you, and you guys were friends. and that’s such a beautiful thing.
but those who stick around, who follow you or keep in touch, are the ones worth holding onto. it’s like the childhood show you love, and you can always come back to and feel the same heart-warming nostalgia for. those are the type of people i love to meet, and i’m so glad i have them in my life.
but then there’s also the sense of wonder that haunts you when you enter a new place, and you look around at all these people, and you can’t help but think: who’s going to matter to me in a month? a year? half a decade?
and then suddenly it’s a year later, and you’re sitting there with new people and you’re telling them about your day, and you genuinely care about them, and they mean the world to you.
and every time it’s… how did I get to meet you? how did I get to be so lucky? how did I go so long without you in my life?
internet friends are just so wonderful.
Amazingly, yes, it’s all true. Even the people with whom I talked and watched and laughed years ago, and with whom I am no longer in touch, are (on the whole) people who gave me much, and whom I possibly gave something, and the memories are (on the whole) good and heartwarming.

Nowadays that area is built-up, noisy, multicultural and fun.
The more they realize that there is no daylight between you and I, the more they will learn to accept our shared authority.

Am vaguely wondering if the title of my Big Bang contribution should be based on this quote.
