Can’t make cuts, and should be packing, so this will be short, although @stephantom’s reflections deserve better.
When I first watched RH in the mid-60s, and again in the early 90s, I tended to see Favor/Rowdy as “older, authoritative, occasionally authoritarian bloke being protective towards younger, impulsive, occasionally insightful bloke”. And then in the past few years I have started seeing Favor as mostly (not always!!) opinionated, venom-tongued, sexist, unwilling to negotiate with anyone. Which was quite painful, especially because i was part of a group that watched RH on a weekly basis and actually met as a group every couple of years.

This is why I loved Elfbert’s stories -beautifully-written, with a flawed, but likeable Favor. It would be good if whatever was likeable in the original construct of the character could be kept alive.
