No easy solutions

Lovely, intelligent, witty female friend, have known her since we were at uni. Married, for 40+ years, to opinionated, self-important, sexist, know-all man. He goes wherever she goes (“couples stay together”), so there’s little chance of having as much as a coffee without him.

Each year I tell myself I don’t want to lose her. And each year I have to force myself not to be rude when he starts mansplaining and blowing his horn. Putting a contract out on him = desirable, but somewhat unfeasible. Telling her that I want to see her unencumbered = tactless. Resigning myself to seeing less and less of her = probably unavoidable.

What would Flint do? Kick him out of town. What would Ryan (Death Rides a Horse) do? Ditto. What would Silver do? Tell him that someone in Rome has suggested he be appointed Minister of Education.
