i’m very into the parallel of the crew trying to protect silver directly resulting in his refusal to give them up, and flint accepting silver’s confession during their shark-date directly resulting in his determination not to let flint sacrifice himself so they could escape maroon island.

i have a lot of feelings about the shark-date and how it was a turning point for them because that whole time leading up to it silver was convinced flint was a ruthless man with no connections left who would kill him as soon as he found out the truth about the gold. suddenly it’s all out in the open and…nothing happened. flint moved on, which meant silver had to wrap his head around the why of it. namely that flint’s feelings about him were more complicated than that of a tool to be used and discarded.

Rio Bravo (1959)

So much to critique in this film (mostly sexism and implied racism), and at the same time so much to love and cheer at. In any order,

the vase thrown through the right window at the right time

the decisive shootout, especially Stumpy and the dynamite sticks

the much-quoted blood dripping into the beer glass

Dude’s hand not shaking as he pours the drink back into the bottle, while the villains are playing the Deguello…

and what are YOUR favourite moments?

Today in Solidarity (5.15.18): The assumption that all Jewish people are anti-Palestine, pro-zionist, or Islamaphobic is erroneous, harmful, and frankly anti-semitic. There are countless Jews of faith and conscience around the globe demanding an end to the occupation of Palestine and accountability for the abuses of human rights Israel has escaped for decades. Yesterday, an incredible organization I’ve had the honor of learning from, If Not Now, led a protest down the streets of DC with you Jews and Rabbinical students against the move of the US Embassy to Jerusalem. I have nothing but respect and admiration for their dedication to justice and human dignity. #JewishResistance

Hi, can you make a rawhide whump list?

I’ve not actually seen every episode of Rawhide, but maybe this is a good excuse to watch it and make some GIFs too.  I would assume everyone would be interested in Rowdy and Favor whump?  It might take a while, but I’ll get on it.

Thank you for the message, I hope it hasn’t been waiting long.

Hah, I’m sure I could make a list of scenes to start with. I think some people following this blog could too. *hopeful look*

Ahhh I feel called out! 😉
Here are a few episodes with good Rowdy whump, but there are so many more!!!

S1 E9      Incident of the Town in Terror (Rowdy ill
and unconscious the whole episode)
S1 E13    Incident or the Curious Street (R
shot in the head)

S2 E4      Incident at Jacob’s Well (R pushed into a
well)
S2 E20    Incident at Sulphur Creek (R gets
knocked out and bound behind the back)

S3 E6      Incident on the Road to Yesterday (R fake
drunk and held at gunpoint)
S3 E10    Incident of the Buffalo Soldier (R
injured and unconscious half of the episode)
S3 E13    Incident Near the Promised Land (R
shot and unconscious)
S3 E25    Incident or the Running Man (the whole episode is a long Rowdy
whump)

S4 E13    The Long Count (Rowdy tied
and held at gunpoint)
S4 E12    Twenty-Five Santa Clauses (R ribs hurt)

S5 E19    Incident or Judgment Day   (R knocked out)

S6 E7      Incident at Two Graves (R gets a bloody nose in fistfight, later
knocked out)
S6 E13    Incident of the Geisha (R hurts his back and needs aftercare)

S7 E20    The Violent Land (R shot with an
arrow, unconscious)
S7 E30    The Gray Rock Hotel (all drovers are ill)

S8 E3      Six Weeks to Bent Fork  (R hurts his ribs and gets a lot aftercare)
S8 E6      Hostage for Hanging  (R captured and tied half of the episode)

the Incident where a grandmother blackmails Favor into taking on her awful grandchild. Rowdy is bashed on the head with a pool cue by a couple of the grandon’s mates. F actually slaps (not too hard, but still) the sore spot at theback of R’s head.
