It’s like millennials do not understand that middle east has been at war for 1000′s of years. That we intervened on behalf of Kuwait. That without “bombing” people that want to kill and oppress others, millions will be murdered and tortured.

“at war for 1000′s of years”

you clearly know nothing about Afghanistan nor the middle east

here’s Afghanistan in the 1950′s, 60′s, & 70′s

if you really want to know what caused all the instability & growth of extremist groups I suggest you take a look at the US foreign policy towards Afghanistan during the 80′s

It’s interesting to note that when the communist government came to power in Afghanistan in the late 70′s, one of the first things they did was declare equality of the sexes, made education for girls mandatory, & banned child marriages. The conservative tribal leaders who the US armed & funded (& who later became the Taliban) declared this to be a “war on Islam” & fought against the central government.

The US had no problem back then with encouraging the growth of Islamic conservatism to counter socialism/communism. You created your biggest enemy & you have no one to blame but yourselves.

BLESS THIS POST

its crazy to me how the US talks about war in the middle east as if its this ancient problem inherent to the area instead of a recent problem created by western countries to further their own interests.

the CIA took out the democratically elected leader of Iran in the 1970s over oil and that set off an entire chain of events leading to ISIS, here’s more about multiple other countries we’ve fucked over

The United States: Fucking monsters.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mmg7XjnQots Afghanistan this post is 100% truth right there. RIP Afghanistan. died due to american bullshit.

As an American… Fuck America

Read Persepolis by Marjane Satrapi to learn more about what the US and England did to Iran so they could steal Iranian oil. It’s fucking sickening, and honestly I hate the lies and omissions surrounding this history.

Another Reagan era legacy that future generations are having to deal with.  The problem is, that as Americans, we are taught in school that those regions are unstable and prone to warfare.  It even goes back to the bible so its not our fault.  American children are also taught not to question the teacher, so their word is law, and we’re never taught anything incorrect, at least not on purpose.

Compounding the problem is that teachers are generated by this system, and even when you’re in college, and know that teachers aren’t infallible, you still don’t question some things.  Like this.  Unless you’re a history major, and then, maybe only if that’s your area of study.  Otherwise you’re too busy/burnt out from the classes that you really need to learn about to go learn things outside of what you’re being taught.  Once you’re a teacher, you have to teach to the test, and don’t really have time to truly educate the students on how shit went down.  Not to mention that as soon as you suggest the US might be in the wrong, or responsible for that shit, you can kiss that job good bye.

my time in spaghetti westerns fandoms was so great, got into it like “well one guy looks like ocelot and cowboys are gay culture I guess”, ended up with an insatiable lust for leftie guerrilla fighter ass

Having a new Thing does not mean we stop loving the previous Things. Love for previous Things lies fallow and can grow again if reawakened by a sentence, a comment, a story, a friend.

plurilinguismo:

In Italian we don’t say “it costs an arm and a leg”, we say “costa l’ira di Dio” which means “it costs the wrath of God” and I think it’s beautiful

I like the (central) Italian “it costs an [unspecified] figure” (Costa una cifra)
