Lee Van Cleef, the damsel in distress!

Something of note. Sky King, which already seemed very keen on the hero’s pretty niece constantly being tied up and gagged, even did the same for Lee in his guest appearance. I guess kinky shit for young hopeful actors wasn’t exclusive to the ladies.

Which episode is this?

This gifset is from season 1, episode 11, “Incident of the Coyote Weed.”

And I can’t help but add this bit of ambivalent commentary to it: while I think this final little scene with Rowdy and Mr. Favor is very sweet and intriguingly compelling on its own, without any context (hence why I felt compelled to gif it), it honestly doesn’t feel earned at the end of the episode it takes place in, in my opinion, and it really fails to satisfyingly resolve the tension created between the two of them (and the other drovers) in the episode. It’s an episode that I think has some some good ideas, and good scenes and characters, but a lot of detracting factors that overall put it probably somewhere in my list of least-favorite Rawhide episodes.

Just my two cents to take or leave. Make of the episode what you will.

And if your reaction to the episode is as confused and/or negative as mine, I do hope it won’t turn you off from the show (or ship?) on the whole.

I agree. What has each man done to earn the other one’s smiling approval? Is Favor actually thanking Rowdy for not coming to his rescue because The Herd matters more than any ine individual? Is Rowdy actually showing Favor that yes, now he sees what F meant, that individual drovers matter less than The Herd? If that is the case, why do both men, in subsequent episodes, repeatedly rush to the rescue of individual men, and each other?
